Corvid-19 “Coronavirus” Update

As of March 9th, the hotel is closed due to the coronavirus pandemic. Given the uncertain nature of the pandemic, we are not accepting any reservations at this time.

Margaret Place is exactly like staying at your friend’s mansion. Owned and operated by young architect Trenton Gauthier, AIA along with his team of local creatives, the six-room boutique hotel certainly isn’t for everyone. But, for those in the know, it’s the obvious choice.

The historic 1854 greek revival building was completely renovated from 2015 to 2020 to provide unmatched comfort through a layering of custom contemporary interiors and futuristic amenities not seen in other lodgings, regardless of price-point. The ground floor hosts the city’s most exclusive parlor, opening to an oversized courtyard where locals lounge by the seventeen foot swim spa. The upper floors are reserved for guest rooms, any of which would surpass the best single room at any other New Orleans hotel.

Likewise, no other hotel offers the same variety of experiences within easy walking distance. We’re centrally located at the intersection of three distinct neighborhoods and only twelve blocks from the French Quarter. The main shopping and dining streets, Magazine and St. Charles Avenue are each only a block away and the Ogden, CAC, and WWII museums are only two blocks away. It’s also the only hotel that’s both an easy walk to the Convention Center and still feels like being within a neighborhood.

Quality in depth.

Yes, we are ideally situated half a block from the main parade route. Moreover, our location allows for a great variety of parade watching experiences, two blocks uptown you’ll find tons of tents and cookouts, at the end of our block, you’ll find groups and families without tents, half a block downtown you can listen under the expressway where every band stops and takes advantage of the acoustics, and one block downtown is Lee circle, which is festival like and great for getting the most throws. You can also walk six blocks to Gallier Hall where the captains salute the mayor. It’s also popular among locals to watch in front of the convention center, at the end of the parade where some riders might “dump” throws.
Yes, it’s ten blocks to the French Quarter or twelve blocks to Bourbon Street and there are plenty of bars and landmarks you should check-out along the way.
Yes, we have two garage spaces on-site. We charge $30/night for either space and provide a remote for the garage door. The fee for lost remotes is our cost plus programming, $140 (remote has to be direct from Schweiss), so please don’t lose it!

We typically have plenty of free on-street parking right in front that’s just as, if not more, convenient. You can take a look at this map of the available zones.
We don’t sell late check-out or early check-in, rather, when the schedule permits, we’ll allow it for free.
Yes, we partner with Cleanerama to provide inexpensive same-day wash and fold service at cost.
We have a limited menu of in house options but we’ll also coordinate and deliver your ubereats or other delivery order at cost.
Unfortunately, our insurance does not permit guests to use our kitchen. Nor can we guarantee that we’ll have space available for refrigerating items. Our bridal suite includes a wet bar with a sub-zero 30″ drawer refrigerator/freezer however city regulations don’t allow us to provide any food heating equipment in guest rooms.
Unfortunately not, we could sell some tours if it were! Unlike two other properties I’ve worked on, I’ve spent plenty of late nights working in attics here and felt nothing. That said, our staff is game to help you pretend.
We’re very much in downtown New Orleans. In terms of crime statistics, yes, our specific area is one of the safer areas of town.
Yes, check us out on The Knot or reach out to our coordinator, Becca Kelly.
